Dr Giselle María Astrid Martínez-NoëlOur aim is to study sugar-mediated signal transduction mechanisms, carbohydrate metabolism in plants and its relationship with nitrogen assimilation. Sucrose and its hydrolysis products are important metabolic signals that modulate gene expression and regulate plant development. We investigate the role of sugars in the communication process of organelles in Arabidopsis thaliana, as plant model, and also in crop plants.
