Hosted by Dr Christoph Benning,  Dr Curatti gave a Seminar on June 14 at the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Michigan State University, USA, entitled:

Multi-species microbial cell-factories as an alternative platform for the production of bioenergy and biomaterials

Abstract. There is currently much interest in developing technology to use microlgae or cyanobacteria for the production of bioenergy and biomaterials. Most current strains selection/optimization approaches rely on bioprospecting for native strains and/or genetic engineering of single strains. In this talk I will show some results from our lab that led us to propose the development of artificial microalgae/bacteria consortia as an alternative to complement current efforts towards optimization of strains for the production bioenergy and bioproducts.
